Danielle Border, born 27th October 1988 is a 2nd year junior. Training at the brilliant South Durham GC, she is coached by Rachael Wright and Nicola Preston. Danielle started off as a top in Sports Acro gymnastics and was very successful finishing 2nd at SA level 4 in 1997. In June 1997 she switched to Artistic and completed the elite bar routine in 5 months!
Recent successes include becoming North of England Senior AA Champ, with team mate Roxanne Jennison in 2nd place and Lyndsey Bailey (Newcastle) in 3rd. Danielle also helped South Durham to a 5th place finish at the British Team Champs in April 2003, an excellent finish for a team of talented youngsters.
A born performer, Danielles favourite event is the floor exercise and she also likes singing and dancing in her free time. Her favourite gymnasts are Romanian star, Andreea Raducan and double Olympic gold medallist Elena Zamolodchikova. Although floor is her favoured event, Danielle loves performing her geinger salto on bars.
True to her sporting nature, Danielles favourite film is Bring it On. Perhaps with all the gym, singing, dancing and cheerleading Danielle has a career as a pop star waiting for her after her gymnastics! She has also been finalist for the Miss Milano competition twice, maybe next year will be third time lucky for this talented youngster from Peterlee.
