Becky started gymnastics at the age of 7 with the Bigwood gymnastics Club in Arnold, Nottingham. Despite having previously studied ballet and modern dance she had always wanted to try gymnastics and started off training once a week on a Saturday morning. However, this soon increased to three sessions a week. Becky showed great promise from the moment she set foot in a gym and has always shown her competitive spirit and desire to win. At her first regional competition, Becky placed third, after which she moved clubs to Notts Gym Club where Claire Starkey took over coaching Becky who now trains up to 30 hours a week with the help of high performance coach Ian Kime.

Training such long hours means Becky does miss some school, however with both her school, (Rushcliffe School in West Bridgeford) and gym on the same site it couldn't be much more convenient!

Becky's results over the last few years reflect her high skill level, hard work and love for competition. She was crowned British espoir champion in 2004 & 2005, and British Junior champion in 2006 as well as collecting various British schools titles along the way! Showing such a level of prowess at such an early age Becky was selected to represent GB in a three way international in Switzerland at the tender age of 13 and last year represented England at the commonwealth games. With Beth Tweddle suffering an injury and unable to compete, the pressure was on for the rest of the girls and Becky put in solid performances to help the team bring back a silver medal as well as winning an individual bronze for her efforts on beam. With Becky eligible to compete at senior level this year she will be looking to compete at the world championships in September and next year make the GB Olympic team. She also has her eyes firmly set on London 2012 where she dreams of winning an individual medal.

Vault is one of Becky's strengths, and this year she has made her mark by being the first GB female gymnast to compete a double twisting yurchenko. Her skill repertoire includes many complex skills including a full twisting double back on floor and a triple twist both of which show off her power and form. Becky loves to compete and always sets herself high goals and is a great perfectionist. At only fourteen years of age she shows maturity and strength in all of her routines and this year has lead her Nottingham Team to winning the British Team championships, whilst gaining the highest all around score of the day.

Outside of the gym Becky lives with a menagerie of pets including 2 cats, 3 rabbits and a hamster, she also loves going to theme parks and particularly enjoys scary roller coasters! One day Becky dreams of coaching her own elite gymnasts and travelling the world with them!

Becky's history of results is outstanding and she must surely be considered one of the most exciting GB prospects for the upcoming world championships and Beijing Olympics. We wish Becky all the luck in the world with her upcoming competitions and hope she can continue to produce fabulous results for team GB!
