Rosalie Hutton is reaping the rewards for her extraordinary dedication to gymnastics. One of the country's top juniors, Rosalie won a place in the very strong Great Britain junior team that went on to finish a record-breaking 4th at the 2004 European Championships. She is the 2004 Scottish Junior National Champion - a title she won by nearly five whole points from her nearest rival - and claimed all-around bronze and beam silver at the 2004 British Junior Championships.

Rosalie (nicknamed "Ros") was born December 28, 1989, and comes from King's Lynn in Norfolk. Her family includes parents Robert and Michele, two older brothers, Daniel (18) and Oliver (17), a younger sister Shona (13), three boxer dogs and a cat. Rosalie began recreational gym at the age of 6. By 7 she was working with coaches Andy and Elaine Wood at her local Lynnsport Gymnastics Club. Ros was successful from an early age. The Norfolk county champion from 1997 to 2000, she was also a top performer at national age group competitions, placing 3rd overall at level 4 and 4th at levels 3 and 2.

In 2000 Rosalie followed her coaches to Pipers Vale GC in Ipswich. The move meant a 150-mile round trip to each training session, but this inconvenience has proved worthwhile. Despite battling serious injuries, Ros has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments in recent years. She placed 4th all-around at the 2002 Espoir British Championships, claiming bars silver and beam bronze, and later finished 2nd overall at the prestigious Rushmoor Rosebowl International, taking gold AA in the Under-13 section and winning beam. She was also part of the East region team that won the 2002 Inter-regional Trophy. After a lengthy lay-off caused by a potentially career-ending hip problem, Rosalie returned to full, top-class competition at Rushmoor 2003, where she again won all-around silver. Ros made her international debut as part of the victorious GB 'A' team in a match against France in the run-up to the 2004 Junior Europeans. She led Pipers Vale to gold at the 2004 Bill Slater Club Team Championships.

Rosalie is part of the Great Britain junior squad, the Scottish national squad and the lottery-funded World Class programme. She currently trains 40 hours a week (full-time from Wednesday evening through to the end of Sunday) at the Ipswich Gymnastics Centre that is home to Pipers Vale. Despite her extremely demanding gymnastics schedule, Ros is still educated normally and enjoys the full support of her school. She will start 6 GCSE courses in September 2004. Rosalie has little free time but when she does get some she enjoys swimming, going to the cinema and "chilling out". She loves all kinds of music and is a big fan of TV soap 'Eastenders'. Best known for her remarkable fighting spirit, Ros is a highly focused and determined competitor with ability on all 4 pieces of apparatus. Her main ambitions are to take part in the World Championships, Senior Europeans and, of course, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ros is currently preparing to compete for the Scottish team at the Junior Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia in November 2004. She qualifies to represent Scotland through her dad, who is originally from Cromarty in the Scottish Highlands.
