14 year old Ashtone is a key member of the British Junior Team. She recently represented the nation at the European Championships in Patras, Greece. Helping the team to a fantastic 8th place finish, Ashtone also finished 15th in the AA, a brilliant result for this talented gymnast. By now however, Ashtone is a seasoned international competitor. Having been one of the two Brits competing at the 2001 Canberra Cup, a prestigious junior competition in Australia. She travelled and competed with her teammate and friend, Sam Bayley and managed 6th place in the beam finals against some of the best juniors from countries such as Russia, Australia and the United States. She was also a member of the British Junior squad at the 2000 European Championships in Paris, France, where she competed on bars for her country. Ashtone spent 1997-1998 on the Great Britain Under 12 squad, before moving up to the Junior Squad in 1999, where she is still is today.
Ashtone started out in gymnastics when she was 5 years old at the Peter Lloyd Gymnastics Club where she was coached by Mrs and Mr Jones. PLGC is a feeder club for Liverpool G.C which is one of the best equipped gyms in the entire country, and Ashtone made the move to Liverpool in 1995. Apart from a short stint at Wigan G.C, she has been there ever since. In 1999, Ashtone competed in the British Espoir Championships and bronze medals in the AA competition and the beam final. The next year, Ashtone did so well at the same competition, that she came home with the AA title as well as two gold medals from floor and beam, a silver for bars and bronze for vault in the apparatus finals! In 2001, Ashtone was old enough to compete as a Junior and came third at the National Championships. She also competed at the European Youth Olympic Days and the Canberra Cup. Ashtone has two siblings, a brother, Joshua and sister, Olivia.
