TBGN: You improved quite rapidly in terms of difficulty and consistency after you moved to Dynamo. Is there anything that you and your coaches did differently to cause this big change?
VH: I feel that since my move to Dynamo I have a better relationship with my coaches and this helps because I can improve with their input and my understanding of certain aspects makes that possible. Also the facilities I now have are a massive improvement to what I did have and so I can have the confidence to try new moves in a better environment.
TBGN: How did it feel to be selected for Great Britain's team for the European's in Patras? What was the best thing about the competition?
VH: At first I couldn't believe it really, it took a while to settle in and it was a little scary. Mainly because it is my first time in National Squad and suddenly after making an International I had been picked to do the Europeans! The best bit about the competition had to be the whole trip, I got to see some of the girls I look up to and it was a great experience for me all in all. We were all chuffed to bits with the result at the end which made it more worth while!
TBGN: Having represented GB a couple of times internationally now, what is your biggest goal for your gymnastics career? career ?
VH: At first I couldn't believe it really, it took a while to settle in and it was a little scary. TBGN: Is there any skill you've had real trouble mastering, or been nervous when learning and performing it?
VH: I have had trouble learning a release and re-grasp on bars which is my main priorty for the next routine. But definately my flic arabian on the beam was a bit of a scary one even when I felt confident!
TBGN: Have you got any big new tricks that you're working on for next year?
VH: You'll just have to wait and see...
TBGN: Gymnastics obviously takes up a lot of your time. What do you think you miss out on most compared to other teenagers not involved in high-level sports?
VH: It would have to be the disco's, the lad's and the general teenager pharse "I'm bored"!
TBGN: If you are having a bad day in the gym or a bad competition, is there anyone, a gymnast, friend or family member, who inspires you to get back in the gym and keep going?
VH: I have to mention her I have a great mate at Dynamo called Kirsty Oxford and she's great at keeping me going on my worst days, even if I don't want to talk! Bless her.
TBGN: Finally, if you weren't a gymnast, is there any other sport you could see yourself doing?
VH: I think maybe an athlete because I love field sports like running and jumping especially triple jump. I have proved to be quite good at it, after competing for my school, my area and my region. As if I don't have an active enough life!
