Gymnast of the Year

TBGN: My earliest gymnastics memory
MK: Doing a handstand on the beam and only putting one hand on because I didnt know where to put the other one and fell sideways off the beam onto my back!

TBGN: The main thing gymnastics has taught me
MK: How to concentrate, focus and perform to my best ability when it counts. Also working in a team and how if you want something you have to work for it.

TBGN: Who is your best friend in the gym?
MK: Dont have one particular best friend in the gym, we all work and get along well together.

TBGN: Bebo, Facebook or Myspace?
MK: Facebook and Myspace =D

TBGN: Your weekly schedule must be pretty tough. How is it?
MK: Juggling college, gym and spending time with friends together is tough but everyone around me is very supportive which helps me get through it.

TBGN: Do you follow any special diet
MK: Just eating healthily and to reasonable proportions.

TBGN: Your favourite leo.
MK: I'll have to say our new red GB leo which we got for worlds as its my lucky leo!

TBGN: Travelling to different countries is one of the positive sides of gymnastics, what's your favourite gym trip so far and why?
MK: Grand Prix comps are very fun, for example when i went to Cottbus and Glasgow. But also Worlds in Stuttgart and the China trip we went on at the end of last year were awesome! Especially going with the whole team on those trips was really fun.

TBGN: Do you get along with other countries' gymnasts?
MK: Of course I've met so many interesting people from many countries all over the world. Sometimes the language issue is a problem but in that case we end up trying to learn each others languages anyways as its fun for both of us!

TBGN: Favourite British & international gymnast.
MK: Love Becky Wing as shes such a tall elegant gymnast as well as a really good friend and roomie! =] Probs Stellina Nistor because shes just wicked =D

TBGN: Favourite thing in the gym. And outside it?
MK: Tumbling into the pit - good chance to safely throw yourself around and see where you end up! Outside gym... seeing all my college friends because I just love them =D

TBGN: Are you planning any upgrades for this Olympic year?
MK: I hope to upgrade my vaults and possibly and few of my tumbles for floor.

TBGN: Yurchenko o Tsukahara entry vaults?
MK: Defo Tsuk!!

TBGN: Which skill would you like to learn?
MK: Double double on floor, it's just such and awesome skill dont you think?!

TBGN: Are you afraid of any skill?
MK: I don't particularly like beam dismounts.... and also bar dismounts when your at the end of a routine and your hands fell as if you can't physically hold onto the bar any longer!

TBGN: What's the first thing when you fall?
MK: Bummer!

TBGN: Craziest thing you've ever done (or witnessed) in the gym.
MK: I went to a Grand Prix in Stuttgart just after worlds and this guy from Egypt I think was doing high bar in the warm up gym. He was powering up for a huge tripple pike back dismount until he suddenly pung off early... did some crazy flippy stuff and landed flat on his back in the middle of the landing area with a huge puff of white chalk around him. Everyone went silent and his coach along with a few others were going crazy because they though he'd killed himself! Luckily he was alrite. Later I was told he'd landed on his head doing one of his vaults, I think tsuk double pike.... ouch.... dont think he was having one of his best days bless!

TBGN: Where is Great Britain team going to place at the Olympics?
MK: I really dont know but I think we have good chances to do really well hopefully in the top 12?

TBGN: Will we see you in Beijing?
MK: I'd really love to go, its been one of my dreams since I started gymnastics, but to be honest I never thought I'd get the chance or the opportunity. I'm really going to work my hardest to earn my place in the team, I just hope all this hard work's going to pay off =]

TBGN: Tell us something unexpected about you.
MK: I love Brie =D!
