Jennifer Pinches Joins the WWW

TBGN teamed up with Level 3 National Champ Jennifer Pinches to produce her official website. Jennifer is at the beginning of what we hope will be a long and successful career, and we hope British gym fans will follow her progress through her site. We hope you like it. ACTION CONCLUDES DOWN-UNDER

The home nations continued to enjoy great success at the CWYG in Australia, with England's Imogen Cairns becoming junior Commonwealth vault Champion and winning a silver medal on floor, tied with teammate Aisling Williams who also picked up a beam silver. Rhian Pugh of Wales secured a silver medal on her best piece, bars, and the English male, female and rhythmic gymnasts combined to give England overall gold in the gymnastics competition. Meanwhile, at the annual Cumbernauld Goodwill Classique in Scotland, Katie Slader of Northern Ireland took the AA victory ahead of Liverpool's Hannah Clowes (who claimed 3 golds in finals) and Hethrow's Amy Nunes. Last weekend, a young team from Notts won team gold at the Coupe Avenir in Belgium, with British espoir champ Becky Downie retaining the individual title she won last year.
Home Nations take Gold, Silver and Bronze at CWYG!

Melbourne, Australia: The English trio of Aisling Williams, Imogen Cairns and Emmma Jagger clinched gold at the Commonwealth Youth Games today, with Wales silver and Scotland bronze! The individual scores were also counted for an All-Around title, which was won by Australia's Chloe Sims. Aisling scored a fantastic 36.0 to take silver and Imogen Cairns bronze. Tomorrow sees the event finals.
Success for Young Juniors in Italy

A young, injury-hit Great Britain junior team performed very solidly to place 2nd behind their Italian hosts in a four-way international versus Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia in Northern Italy this weekend. The Italians fielded a strong team of experienced internationals who took the top 5 individual places, while Amy Fossheim led the British girls, finishing 6th all-around with a score of 33.6. The GB team included international debutants Jodie Standish (7th) and Kerri Upton, who stepped in after injuries caused several gymnasts to withdraw. Other team members were Hannah Clowes, Becky Downie and Hannah Freeman. Congratulations!

British Age Group Champions Crowned; Cherrelle 5th on Bars in Ghent

Ashleigh Ivey-McFarlane (Age 11 - Level 2), Jennifer Pinches (Age 10 - Level 3) and Lizzie Beddoe (Age 9 - Level 4) were crowned overall British Age Group champions in Guildford at the weekend, following the national voluntary levels finals. Lilly Black won the voluntary title at level 2, Jennifer Pinches at level 3 and Ruby Straw at level 4. Congratulations to all the successful gymnasts and their coaches. Meanwhile, at the World Cup competition in Ghent, Cherrelle Fennell performed extremely well to finish 5th on bars in a very high-quality field.
Beth double medallist in Glasgow; North West take Inter-Regional

Beth Tweddle and Cherrelle Fennell represented Great Britain in prestigious company at the annual Glasgow Grand Prix event. In what was the first major competition since Athens for many of the returning Olympic stars, Beth secured silver on bars and took her first-ever world cup medal on floor, finishing 3rd behind Olympic champ Catalina Ponor. Cherrelle placed 5th on bars despite an ankle injury and a fall on her dismount. The pair were not the only North West gymnasts tasting success this weekend as a younger group of girls lifted the Inter-regional trophy in Newcastle ahead of teams from the North of England (2nd) and Wales (3rd).

Make sure you tune into BBC1 at 2:45pm today for live action from the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow! The BBC are showing 1 hour of the 8th annual event, where Britain's Beth Tweddle will be hoping to retain the bar title she won last year. She has also qualified to vault and floor final (in =1st place!). Along side Beth will be team mate Cherrelle Fennell from Wigan, who also took part in last years event. Today is the womens vault and bar final, good luck girls!
Liverpool retain Rosebowl; Aisling individual Champion

City of Liverpool retained the overall Rushmoor Rosebowl at the 23rd Rushmoor Rosebowl International competition. They defeated teams from Wales (2nd), the Australian Insitute of Sport (3rd), Pipers Vale (4th) and Canada (5th). Aisling Williams again took the individual title with 34.975 ahead of Aussie Hollie Dykes (34.350) Lynette Lisle (34.075) and Rosalie Hutton (34.000). Rhian Pugh debuted an original element on beam (gainer free cartwheel on the side) and qualified top for the bar final. BREAKING NEWS: Sam Bayley took the title in the vault final, Rhian took bars, Hollie Dykes took beam and Aisling triumphed on floor. Well done girls!

Aisling, Nina English Champions; Youth Games teams announced

Aisling Williams of Liverpool and Nina Dearman of Vernon Park took the junior and senior English titles respectively today at Wiltshire School of Gymnastics in Melksham. Aisling scored an impressive 35.925 to take the title ahead of espoir Laura Jones of Notts with 33.375, Emma Jagger of South Essex with 33.150 and current junior British Champ, Imogen Cairns, with 33.050. In a smaller senior field, Nina fended off challenges from Alice Green (Saphire) with 32.675, Danielle Border (S. Durham) on 31.800 and Roxanne Jennison (S. Durham) on 30.600, to take the title with 32.725. The Commonwealth Youth Games teams were also announced for England and Wales. Aisling, Imogen and Emma are the English team and Rhian Pugh, Mel Roberts and Sam Bayley are representing Wales. (Info courtesy of TDP). The Scottish team is the Galashan twins and Rosalie Hutton.
